Latest Google Play store update rolling out now, wishlists in tow
If you're indecisive about that pricey but hard-to-find new app, Google Play will now be offering another option in its store -- you can put it aside in a wishlist until you make up your mind. That new feature (which was espied in recent teardowns) is hitting devices now on a per-account basis, and if you have it (version 3.9.16) you'll notice a bookmark icon near the top right of the screen when you load up an app page. When you tap that icon, the software will be added to your wishlist, which can be scoped from the menu button with the "My Wishlist" setting, saving you the trouble of searching it out later. Depending on your Android device's settings, you may already have it or were notified of its availability -- if so, happy shopping.
Google Play Store gets good cop / bad cop APK update, will add wish lists and malware scanner
A recent scan by Android Police through the latest Google 3.9.16 APK for its Play Store has revealed that wish lists are coming along very well, thank you, and that Mountain View will likely introduce a malware scanner soon too. The latter hasn't appeared on our radar before, and it looks like the search giant will soon be able to scope all the apps you've already installed and also bar the door to any suspicious-looking software before it can sully your smartphone or slate, unless you specifically request otherwise. So, perhaps you'll feel a bit safer once the Google Play portal is being watched from both sides.

Wings Over Atreia: All I want for Solorius is...
While admittedly they don't include two front teeth, there are definitely some things I would be thrilled to see in my virtual stocking this holiday season from the developers of Aion. At this time of year, you almost can't help but look ahead and dream about what things would make it a better world. Don't believe me? Name me one other time when you hear "peace on earth" more -- not counting a beauty pageant! But our desires for a better world need not be confined just to that real one we inhabit when our computers are shut off; in fact, wishing for a better Atreia (though peace among Daevas may be counter-productive) is right in the holiday spirit! I am not looking for any "I win" or easy button -- just a few things that will make for a better and brighter Atreia, some things that will put more fun into my time in Aion. I'm making my list and checking it twice. After all, 'tis the season of miracles, right? Sleigh ride past the break to take a peek at part of my Christmas... er, I mean Solorius... wish list!
Making five wishes in EVE Online
After playing EVE Online for half a year, The Ancient Gaming Noob has revisited his five wishes for the game. Reading through the list reveals it to be pretty reasonable and quite thoughtful -- focusing on functionality over pipe dreams. The last item on the list asks for a simulation mode, which is less about functionality and more about making the learning curve in EVE Online less harsh for newer players. We're inclined to agree here, because it would be nice to have a no risk/no reward system that would let players experiment with their setup. Something like that certainly could save a lot of people several headaches in the long run.Another item on the list has to do with Trinity and the graphical enhancements that came with the update. The wish -- or complaint, if you want to look at it that way -- concerns performance on lower-end systems. While the new graphics are certainly lovely to look at, many people just don't have the horsepower to pump them out at a smooth pace. CCP will hopefully tweak the classic mode graphics in the future, because we're sure that the Ancient Gaming Noob isn't the only EVE player with this particular wish.
What would you like to see in the next expansion?
In WoW's first expansion we got many new toys: flying mounts of every variety, new races, new profession, arena pvp and a higher level cap along with those 41pt talents. It didn't take us long to start imagineering the next expansion, but now that many of us have hit level 70 with our mains, toyed with Dranei and Blood Elf alts and are hip deep in reputation grinds, it's worth revisiting the question: What would we like to see next?Blizzard is keeping tight lipped on the subject, probably holding back until Blizzcon 2007 at the beginning of August, but that hasn't stopped players from rolling out wish lists on the official forums. Some of the suggestions make sense. Others are ... on their own planet.
