This is an older, beloved machinima by Lagspike Films called World of Workcraft. Yup, that's totally Oxhorn's voice you hear; you can recognize that bearded tone anywhere. World of Workcraft was a pretty novel idea in its time and the machinima has stood up to the years incredibly well. The opening sequence's over-the-top heroics launch you immediately into a world of adventure, making the fuzzy transition into the world of mundane that much more wrenching. All in all, the machinima enjoys great technique. If you've not seen it before, check it out. If you already know it, watch it again. You'll be surprised by how good it is, even now. We first talked about the BitFilm Festival 2009 Machinima contest when we featured La Terroriste last week. With the clock running out on the time for votes, I wanted to mention another machinima entry for this year's contest. The Orchard is a horror-genre movie from Dan Ross (otherwise known as Lafawnduh). Dan is the same creator who filmed The Ultimate Snowdown. The Orchard is an incredibly well-crafted movie that is deeply steeped in its own genre and moody atmosphere. I particularly enjoy how the story is tied up without an obvious, author-determined morality applied to Margaret. The video is well worth the time, and Dan should be applauded for his artwork.Ultimately, I wish good luck to La Terroriste, World of Workcraft, and The Orchard in the BitFilm contest. While WoW.com obviously has no stake in the contest, I think all three would be worthy winners. Good luck, folks! Interested in the wide world of machinima? Lagspikefilm is back with another painfully real parody machinima. Last time, he spoofed MTV Cribs, but this time, he's taken on a much tougher topic -- the workplace. World of Workcraft is about a group of dragon slayers that log in to an office simulation game in their spare time.Workcraft serves as proof that not all World of Warcraft videos need to be about PvP, PvE, etc. We hope that there's a sequel in the works, because we couldn't stop laughing at this brilliant video![Thanks, Tumnus!]If you have machinima or movie suggestions from any MMO, please send them to machinima AT massively DOT com, along with any information you might have about them.
