Leveling a new pet from 1 to 25 can be a time-consuming slog -- but it doesn't have to be. Though you'll need to start with a few solid level 25 pets, you can let two max-level pets carry you while saving your third slot with a that needs the experience. Then, just fight your way through high-level pet trainers with this guide from Adventures in Poor Taste. The trick is in having the right level 25 pets so you can win battles without having to rely on your third, under-level pet. The guide walks you through the ideal pets for the job -- you might want to hit up their guide to the 7 best beginner pets while you're at it -- and gives you a play-by-play for what to expect from all of Pandaria's pet trainers (plus a couple of extras). So what are you waiting for? Break out your Safari Hat level your way up to the 30 max-level pets you'll need to enter the Celestial Tournament. Good luck!

  • Comprehensive Battle Pet database from Alt:ernative

The Godmother over at Alt:ernative is a collector of the highest order, and so found herself being constantly asked by friends, guildmates, and even complete strangers like the author of this piece how to go about obtaining various pets for the pet battle system. So, rather than rest on her laurels, she went ahead and created the Minipets Database. What is the minipets database? It's a database of the 500 battle pets, and where to get them from. It also includes information on what type the pet is; so aquatic, flying, critter, beast and the like. And of course, it lets you know the pet's rarity, whether it's tradeable, and whether it can battle! The Godmother is also in the process of adding pictures and co-ordinates for every single pet in the database, but for now she's included enough information for the would-be pet collector to gather as many pets as they see fit. This is always going to be a work in progress as more pets are added and the Godmother fulfils her Pokémon philosophy and updates the database, but for the keen collector this is already a great resource. Join us after the break for the Godmother's Q&A about the database!

Early this morning our staff uncovered pictographic evidence of the Celestial Steed and Lil' XT Pet being sold soon at the Blizzard Store. The image is no longer in their front page rotation, but likely it won't be gone for long. We don't know any details. That's all there is to say on that. So any speculation about price, functionality, etc... it's all just that. Speculation. We do know, however, that this is the first mount being sold at the store; and the first useful in-game item you can directly buy with real world money (if you don't count the mounts from the WoW TCG game). Video of the steed after the break.

Back in June I brought you the news that FigurePrints were bringing out a new range in their 3D printed collectable WoW models named FigurePets. The original line up featured a limited run of three non-combat pets: The Clockwork Rocket Bot, Stinker the Skunk, and Speedy the Turtle -- who was by far my favorite! For the readers out there who were fortunate enough to get their hands on a set of the original FigurePets then you can attest to how awesome they really are -- these little guys rock! I've got mine standing in formation around my Kungen FigurePrint letting everyone who comes near my computer know that I am a WoW player (or should that be "playa?" It does sound far more "gangsta" that way). So it gives me great pleasure to inform you that FigurePets are back with a brand new limited series of three new non-combat pets. The line up this time is as follows:

  • Still time to get your pet bear and achievement

There's still time to get your non-combat baby polar bear pet and your achievement celebrating the 4th anniversary of the World of Warcraft. All you have to do is log into the game and open up your mail. Many folks thought that the achievement would only trigger if you logged on yesterday, however that doesn't appear to be the case. People are calling the polar bear pet the "cutest thing in-game." The reaction of "Awwww!!!" can be heard throughout guild chats everywhere. And for those special/cool/nerdy enough, you can even have a polar bear non-combat pet next to a polar bear hunter pet next to a BlizzCon polar bear mount next to a regular polar bear mount. If you get to have that much polar bear love in one screenshot, you get the achievement "Threat Down: Polar Bears" and are awarded the title "Colbert." The t is silent, of course.Okay... maybe we're kidding about the title, but it's still cool to be able to do that.

var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/pc_games/World_of_Warcraft_Celebrates_4_Years_Online'; Those of us waking up today and tomorrow will log into Azeroth and find in our mailboxes a little Baby Blizzard Bear non-combat pet. This pet will also give you a feat of strength achievement celebrating World of Warcraft's four years online. This is a nice little way for Blizzard to thank all of us for spending years in the game. With over 11 million people playing WoW, and Wrath becoming a hit overnight, there's definitely a lot of celebrating to do over at Blizzard HQ.The little bear that you get looks a like a small version of the BlizzCon Polar Bear Mount those of us lucky enough to attend BlizzCon this year got. It's a perfect traveling companion for you as you adventure around Northrend.Edit: The pet is active on US, EU, and Oceanic servers. Thanks to Mangowire for sending us the pics you see below. %Gallery-37708%

  • Fishing up Chuck

If Mr. Pinchy didn't revive the concept of fishing for you, sending you out with your rod, your bait and your bags, then maybe Chuck will. Aikiwoce, after completing the new fishing daily quest on the PTRs, was awarded with Chuck's Bucket. What does this odd little bucket do? Why, it summons Chuck the baby crocolisk of course! For those of you pet collectors out there, you'd best start leveling your fishing now! Even if you're not an avid collector, Chuck is the perfect toothy reptilian companion. Besides, any pet borne from Chuck Norris is a must-have. /winkAikiwoce was kind enough to forward us a screenshot; thanks Aikiwoce!Of course, Chuck isn't the only mini pet making its debut through patch 2.4. If you want something a little less slimy and a bit more fiery, then the new phoenix pet might make your "to farm" list for after the patch.

  • 2.4: The phoenix

Non-combat pet fans thought that patch 2.3 was a blessing, bringing us the Tiny Spore Bat, for only 30 glowcaps and exalted reputation with Sporeggar, and the beautiful and rare Azure Whelpling. As it followed on the heels of Brewfest's Wolpertinger and Hallow's End's Sinister Squashling, collectors were feeling pretty peachy. Now, as patch 2.4 lurks around the corner, two more prizes for mini pet fans loom. As we've mentioned, collectors will now have their long-awaited vanity pet bag, which Breanni of warcraftpets.com theorizes will hold between 20 and 28 mini pets! Despite my excitement over the new bag, I have to say that I am at least equally enthused about the new phoenix mini pet. There's just something magical about the fiery little guy that I can't resist. Similar to the elusive epic flying phoenix mount, I can't help but want one. At this time, very little is known about where this pet drops or what the drop rate could be. In fact, it might turn out to be a faction reward, much like the Tiny Spore Bat. When patch 2.4 hits, will you be out farming reputation or mobs for your very own phoenix, or are you more excited about other aspects of the patch?
