Looking for something just a little less fancy than the BlackBerry 8830 for taking your Verizon service 'round the globe? Yeah, we hear that -- and so does Motorola, releasing the Z6c slider with both CDMA / EV-DO and GSM radios on board. The phone is largely identical to the Z6tv, save that the MediaFLO-based VCAST TV support goes to the wayside (who thinks they're gonna be able to use that action in Greece, anyway?) in favor of the "World Edition" branding and support. You also get a 2 megapixel cam, microSD slot, and the full host of Verizon features like VZ Navigator, VCAST Music and Video, et cetera (which are all naturally CDMA-only) packed into a shiny metal shell that just might not tip off passers-by to your "I'm an American carrying a weird hybrid phone" status. Grab it for $180 after rebate.

So when Motorola gets around to launching the dual-mode GSM / CDMA Z6c slider, these are pretty much the high-style shots you're going to see in publications. A little swankier and more refined than the harsh light offered by the FCC's labs, eh? On behalf of world travelers everywhere, we await thee![Thanks, anonymous tipster]%Gallery-11135%

  • Again, with more GSM: Motorola's Z6c for Verizon clears FCC

Perhaps Verizon realizes that it needs more worldphones on its roster, perhaps it just realizes that not everyone needs VCAST TV -- but whatever the reason may be, Motorola has ushered the GSM-capable MOTORIZR Z6c slider into existence. Featuring dual-band GSM for European and Asian compatibility alongside the usual CDMA with EV-DO for domestic use, the Z6c forgoes MediaFLO support altogether but retains the Z6tv's QVGA display and 2 megapixel cam. No word on a release date, but now that the FCC hurdle has been cleared, we'd be surprised if Verizon didn't at least try to squeeze 'er out in time to pick up some holiday sales.[Via phoneArena]

phoneArena scored a wealth -- nay, a veritable cornucopia of information detailing Verizon's releases for the rest of 2007, and we can say with some confidence that there's something in here for everyone. Starting with smartphones, SMT5800, XV6800, Samsung i760, and Motorola Q9m should hit in October, October, September, and August (yay, this month!) respectively. A second, business oriented variant of the Q9, dubbed the Q9c, will follow on in the fourth quarter. If Windows Mobile ain't your cup of tea, have a gander at the Palm Treo 755p and RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8130 (pictured), both coming in November. There isn't much to say about the 755p that hasn't already been said, but the 8130 is indeed a Pearl of the "new" variety, upping the cam to 2 megapixels while adding A2DP and a 3.5mm jack. Turning to dumbphones, Verizon's got the full spread from low to high end. The Samsung U410, self-branded CDM-8630 and LG VX8350 all appear to be pretty simple flips coming some time this half of the year. The Motorola Z6c looks to be a MediaFLO-less version of the Z6tv slider; the former drops in November while the latter is nebulously scheduled for the second half. Finally, the fancy U700 and U900 flips from Samsung offer 2 and 3 megapixel cams, respectively, and will both be available before the year's out. Whew!
