During a Zone of the Enders event today in Tokyo, Kojima Productions announced an October 25 release date for Zone of the Enders HD Collection – for Japan. International release dates for the PS3/Xbox 360 mech game compilation have yet to be announced beyond "fall".During the event, Hideo Kojima also announced that work has begun on a sequel currently codenamed "Enders Project." Kojipro is prototyping the game in its own Fox Engine, converting physical models into Fox Engine 3D models. The character model shown is more organic than robotic – it's the winsome fellow above, snapped by Famitsu.

Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater will arrive in 2012, according to series creator Hideo Kojima. The detail confirms wonky words from Konami in late July that the game wouldn't make its announced 2011 launch. Andriasang also reported that Kojima gave an "early to mid 2012" release window for the Zone of the Enders HD Collection. The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will launch in Japan on November 23, with the North American launch "this winter." %Gallery-133976% %Gallery-133973%

  • Hideo Kojima tweets 'ZOE 3DS' logo

Prolific Twitter user and occasional game designer Hideo Kojima posted the above picture last night on his Twitter account, saying only, "Found this at Omori-kun's desk. What's this?" Yes, the Jehuty figure is pretty breathtaking, but something even more interesting can be found behind it: a "Z.O.E. 3DS" logo, with the "3DS" a subtle alteration of the mirrored ZOE logo. Part of another logo can be seen to the left, revealing "...bis: 2" That is perhaps a reference to Anubis, the Japanese name for Zone of the Enders 2. This ZOE logo could be anything: a ported Zone of the Enders game for 3DS (like Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater); a new sequel (as in "Zone of the Enders 3" in the west and "Anubis: 2" in Japan); or a canceled project that never made it past the "really cool logo" stage. Furthermore, Kojima could just be messing with his followers.

  • Konami reveals Metal Gear Solid, Zone of the Enders, Silent Hill HD remakes

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will feature MGS 2, MGS 3: Snake Eater and MGS: Peace Walker -- strangely, the original Metal Gear Solid is absent. Why not just touch up Twin Snakes? Regardless, the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will be available on the PS3 and Xbox and support 1080p graphics and, on the PS3, a neat 'Transfarring' feature where you can transfer your Peace Walker game save from your PSP to your PS3. As for Zone of the Enders HD Collection, it's a collection of Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders 2, natch. Little beyond its existence was given, outside of a tentative 2012 launch window. It'll also be available on both the PS3 and Xbox 360, with the former version supporting the new Transfarring feature -- though in what way we're still trying to get clarification on. Update: Our own Mike Schramm is on-hand at the Konami event in LA and asked for clarification on the Transfarring feature in ZOE HD. "Wait for future announcements," a Konami representative replied. Looks like we'll have to wait for that clarification! The Silent Hill Collection will feature only Silent Hill 2 and 3, touched up in HD. No exact consoles were mentioned.

You and Hideo Kojima may both want another Zone of the Enders game, but until Konami approves the next story, you'll have to settle for the next best thing: Making up your own with this premium Revoltech Zone of the Enders action figure. Yes, Jehuty has been immortalized in plastic, and will be available in Japan on April 15 for 2,850 yen (about $35). We'll even give you a basic ZoE 3 plotline: When a squadron of green Army Men descend on the wartorn world of Antilia, it's up to Jehuty and his new friend Barbie (with her trusty mount Battle Cat) to defend the secrets of the Orbital Frame.

  • Kojima has plan for ZOE sequel, but lacks production line

"The production lines within Kojima Productions are currently full," Hideo Kojima writes on the Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker blog. The candid comments, translated by Andriasang, spring from the designer's recently expressed desire to return to the Zone of the Enders universe -- someday. Clogged by large, anticipated titles like the aforementioned Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the Kojima Productions pipeline doesn't have the room to support the fan-requested sequel. But there's plenty of room in the revered designer's head."I already have a game plan and method for sales in my head," Kojima says before concluding, "I cannot make a promise about time. However, I can promise a sequel." While far from seeing the green light, a new Zone of the Enders would seek to obtain a level of success the previous game missed out on, just as it missed a more profitable release window. "At that time, if I hadn't made a mistake with the release date, Anubis [as ZOE 2 is known in Japan] might have ended up a major Kojima Productions title to follow MGS, still seeing development as a series." How frustrating -- if only that considerable retconning power could be put to use outside of the Metal Gear mythology.

You guys aren't going to believe who our very own Jem Alexander got to interview recently: Hideo Kojima! That's right, we've got some Joystiq Original Reporting™ in the video above, in which Joystiq's European emissary interviews the Metal Gear Solid creator about his upcoming plans. It's a huge boon for our humble news site, and we thank Jem for his -- wait, what? He doesn't work here anymore? That limey bastard! We're going to be busy stewing in our anger for a while, so go ahead and watch that interview --make sure you don't miss the 3:45 mark, when Kojima speaks about how a current-gen Zone of the Enders title is "on the top of the list" of his studio's priorities. That news is almost delightful enough to make us forget our brutal betrayal.

  • Rumor: New Kojima Productions project sneaking out in three days

According to a "cryptic email" sent to 1UP by a "source within Konami," Kojima Productions may be planning to announce ... something in three days. The email was titled "T - 3" and contained only a link to a currently unavailable page at the URL http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/next. If the information in this email -- or even the information about the email -- is accurate, it could be a hint about Zone of the Enders 3, which has evidently in Hideo Kojima's thoughts recently. It's got a 3 in it! But if we're speculating, we figure we might as well go for broke. Maybe it's a new Snatcher game! We never heard of anything coming out of the Kojima/Suda 51 "Project S" collaboration except for radio dramas -- the pair could still be working on more Snatcher-related material.Other possibilities -- which we must include lest a Kojima post go by without mention of Metal Gear -- include the trademarked Metal Gear Solid arcade game, and, if it's a different project, "the next MGS." And let's not ignore the possibility that this isn't true.

Six years after the release of the last console game in the series, Hideo Kojima is talking Zone of the Enders. Specifically, the Kojima Productions founder (and creator of a little series called Metal Gear) asks if gamers are really interested in a Zone of the Enders 3 during a new episode of MGS4's in-game "Integral" podcast.Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner -- the, well, second game in the series -- was directed by MGS4 co-writer and director, Shuyo Murata, and remains a fan favorite in addition to a critical success; we're surprised it's taken Kojima this long to broach the topic of a sequel. In closing out a discussion about the demand for a follow-up, Kojima and his podcasting partners ask gamers to email them if they'd be interested in seeing it happen. Kojima-san, about your mail server ... we're sorry about its imminent death under the weight of all those emails. Surely you can buy a new one with profits from ZOE 3? [Via PS3center]

There's always that one game series that pleases whoever plays it, but it doesn't exactly pop up in daily "I wish..." conversations. It's sort of an... unspoken respect, or something. Zone of the Enders is like that. They're great games (even though many, many people bought the first game for the included Metal Gear Solid 2 demo...) but they don't exactly get voiced as such. The silent masses? Well, time to let your voice be heard -- Zone of the Enders 3 is officially in development.Over at the unofficial Metal Gear Solid website, they've posted a scan of the lastest PSM3, detailing what little news other than the confirmation of ZOE3 is available. It's time to hype this one up as another great robot battle royale with twisting storylines and intense, almost seizure-inducing, visuals. Let's do this by recounting our favorite ZOE and ZOE2 moments. If your moment consists of popping in the MGS2 demo and tossing the first ZOE aside, then... well, whatever floats your boat, but you missed out. Scheduled for 2007, though? Doubt it. More on this as details surface.
