Texas startup develops wireless diabetes monitor

Parents of kids with diabetes have enough to worry about without wondering whether their kids are maintaining good blood-glucose levels and testing themselves regularly when they're away from home. That's why Kevin McMahon, father of a diabetic child and founder of Dallas-based Diabetech, created the GlucoMON. The wireless system sends data from select blood-glucose meters via SMS and e-mail to an unlimited number of addresses, allowing parents and doctors to stay up to date, and letting kids keep them informed without requiring them to do anything extra (after all, they've got enough to worry about, as well).
