Thanko adds voice recorder to MP3 watch

Other than using them as stealth flash drives, we haven't seen a lot of value in most of the watch-based MP3 players out there. That hasn't stopped manufacturers from continuing to produce them, and the latest is Japan's Thanko, which has added a voice recorder to its MP3 watch. While this is a feature we might actually use — talking into our watch has a certain Dick Tracy appeal, and it could be a convenient way to save reminders — we just don't get Thanko's implementation. Voice notes have to be played back on the watch; they can't be transferred to a PC. Yet to delete them from the watch, you have to use your PC. We're sure that if this ever gets released outside of Japan, someone will hack it to enable voice-note transfers. In the meantime, we'll just stick with Xonix's MP3 watch, which does voice-recording right, and comes in capacities of up to 1GB.
