Apple patents Bluetooth remote with touch screen

Apple remote patent

We're going to try not to get started on yet another diatribe about broad-ranging vaguely worded patent applications, but the latest (of Apple's) to be dug up involves a Bluetooth/wireless touch-screen remote capable of detecting and controlling home entertainment devices (as opposed to IR learning from other remotes). Of course, this would require home entertainment consumer electronics to not only start supporting Bluetooth, but also work with Apple's proprietary control system—something probably not likely to happen, at least not so long as such companies continue with their unabated passion for releasing a remote for every device, each equipped with a grid of four hundred obliquely labeled buttons.
