Aug. 8: What's on HDTV today

Monday Night Football

What we're watching and why:

Football is back! And of course it's in high def. It's only an exhibition game, but Monday Night Football returns for its final season on ABC before ESPN takes over on Monday and ABC moves to Sunday nights in 2006. The Miami Dolphins take on the Chicago Bears in the Hall of Fame game that marks the return of Ricky Williams. Of course, Al Michaels will be calling the game, with John Madden providing his detailed color. It starts at 8 p.m. Eastern.
