China to take HDTV channel nationwide in January

As we reported earlier, China's CCTV
has been testing their high definition broadcasts since September. They have now announced they are ready to start broadcasting nationwide in January. This is all obviously not just a part of converting to DTV
like everyone else, but also getting ready for the high definition broadcasts at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Maybe we'll actually get live broadcasts in high def this time (NBC are you listening?).
