iPod-based payment system

5G ipod (video)

French company Ingenico has developed what they claim to be the first payment system based around an iPod, so all you other lame civilizations can divert your shield units to the next wonder of the world. They're using an iTrip FM transmitter to send the payment information, which is embedded in an MP3, and say that in the future we might be able to download a whole airplane boarding pass on MP3, including biometric information to ensure you are, in fact, that one guy who bothered to download an MP3 boarding pass. Their press release about sums it up: "While this demonstration may not be a sign of what the future holds, it certainly proves Ingenico's ability to innovate for the benefit of its current and future customers." Uh… right.
