Shanghai Interactive TV preps for high definition broadcasting

Chinese broadcasters continue to join in the rollout of HDTV programming in preparation for the 2008 Olympics. This time it is Shanghai Interactive TV (I hope I didn't just link to a porn site, there are no pictures and I can't read Chinese) who has announced they will begin broadcasting one HDTV channel in the city on Sunday, and it will become available nationwide via satellite on February 1. SiTV has dubbed the channel "New vision", and it will feature sports, movies, dramas, documentaries and live entertainment.

Consumers can expect pricing between 40 and 50 yuan (thats like $400 Canadian) a month for the service. SiTV is also in talks with some Japanese and Korean networks about showing their HD content.
