EDAG genX concept car includes popup bed
We've spent a fair amount of time sleeping in our car — most of it, fortunately, in the passenger seat while someone else has been driving. However, the idea of adding a popup bed to our ride isn't something that would've occurred to us; the very thought conjures up images of those tacky portable campers people used to trundle around behind their cars back in the day. But the designers at Germany's EDAG didn't let that stop them (maybe the popup campers were verboten on the Autobahn), and they've come up with the genX, a concept sportscar with a lame name and a full-size bed that rises up out of the roof, along with built-in external luggage pods. We can see a lot of people wanting one of these (though we'll skip the musings on potential uses), but we doubt we'll ever see one on the road. Maybe it's time for a session of "Pimp My Pop-Up Camper."
