SonoSite Micromaxx allows ultrasounds on the go
The SonoSite MicroMaxx laptop-sized ultrasound machine will probably be greeted with relief by pregnant women everywhere (including those on bedrest who have trouble getting to the doctor's office), who may actually have an easier time scheduling those crucial examinations — assuming insurance companies and OB/GYNs greenlight using the machine. However, we won't be surprised if the MicroMaxx also creates a boom in another business; we see mall-based ultrasound "portrait" studios migrating to home services. We hope we're wrong, but the ultrasound baby shower may be just around the corner.
