Blu-Ray DVD titles from FOX

20th Century Fox

It's amusing to see the various companies lining up on both sides of the Blu-Ray and HD-DVD battle. Can't we all just get along? Why is it that anytime we have a potentially new standard, the corporate world forgets about the consumer and just focuses on the side that will earn more revenue?

DVD format battle aside, there is some consumer news on the topic. Twentieth Century Fox, who backs Blu-Ray if you're keeping score, has announced some movie titles for the new format. Look for the following movies to become available on Blu-Ray:

  • Alien I-IV

  • Die Hard Trilogy

  • X-Men I & II

  • I, Robot

  • There's Something About Mary

  • Moulin Rouge

  • Sound of Music

At least they're picking movies that will look good in the new format. Oh, wait: I just saw "There's Something About Mary" on the list. Perhaps I'll side with the HD-DVD folks after all. Does anyone have plans to adopt one format over the other to pair with their HDTV?
