BenQ 37" LCD debuts in Canada

BenQ 37-inch HD LCD

Following up their claim that LCDs will obliterate PDPs in the HDTV market, BenQ introduced their DV3750 LCD TV in Canada today. Oh that's cool, eh? The DV features an 800:1 contrast ratio and a brightness level of 550 nits. Interestingly enough, BenQ offers the same model here in the United States. Or is it?

The U.S. BenQ site shows that the DV3750 displays at 1920 x 1080 resolution and can handle 1080p signals. Just up north a bit, the "same" model only displays 1,366 x 768 resolution according to a news release. What gives? Not to worry, you hosers. We double-checked the official BenQ Canadian site and verified that the specs are the same in both countries!

So there you go: thanks to NAFTA and some double-checking, you folks in Canada can get a 37-inch 1080p LCD for around $3,500.
