Riot control's a riot when water cannons topple police

It's hard to control a crowd when your crowd control device knocks you over. Recent trials of two versions of a water cannon police were hoping to use for riot control purposes didn't go so well — the units have been abandoned because operating them caused officers to fall over. In fact, it's been a tough time in the riot control department — another device, a gun that squirts "toffee-like" foam that renders people immoble, has also been abanoned because of its tendency to suffocate people. Pshhhht — what's a little suffocation in the face of riot control? Going soft, are they? At least we'll sleep better at night knowing they've still got the taser to sic on those pesky protesters.
