What we're watching and why:

It's been awhile, but my home state Detroit Lions are finally on Monday Night Football tonight. I'm guessing it's one of the first times the team is broadcasting in high definition. The Lions play the St. Louis Rams at Ford Field in downtown Detroit at 8 on ABC. Over on HDNet Movies, 1980's classic "Ordinary People" is showing at 8 p.m. and 12:15 a.m.

Here are other HDTV programs showing on some selected networks today. All times are Eastern:
