HD camcorder in space

ISS

We don't know what model it is, but you can bet it's the only high-def camcorder that circles the globe every 90 minutes or so. The International Space Station cosmonauts got a hold of a Japanese HD camera and are using it to take pics within the station.

A couple of questions come to mind on this one:

  • Will HDNet pick this up for exclusive programming or are we stuck with NASA TV in SD?

  • These hard-workin' folks in space can't be looking their best under those harsh conditions. Will they make the 2006 "worst looking in HD" list?

  • Did one of them sneak up a high-altitude PDP so they could watch their "home movies?"

  • Which one of the Engadget crew is slated for the next Space Shuttle hop to do an exclusive camera review?
