LaCie rolls new LCD displays, secure hard drives

LaCie is adding two new LCD monitors to its line of displays for "digital professionals," which the company claims offer "state-of-the-art color accuracy" and 1000:1 contrast ratios. The LaCie 119 is a 19-incher for $429, while the LaCie 120 adds an inch to its dimensions and over $200 to its price: it'll go for $699. While touting the color accuracy of the new displays, LaCie is quick to point out that they don't come close to the company's 300-series LCDs, which are "for serious graphics professionals who are demanding with color." LaCie has also announced a new series of secure hard drives, dubbed the LaCie SAFE Mobile Hard Drive with Encryption. The portable USB 2.0 drives boast DES or Triple-DES encryption, biometric security and are available in capacities from 40GB to 120GB, at prices from $220 to $400.
