Nov.26: What's on HDTV today

What we're watching: The major networks must think we're still out fighting over shopping for Christmas gifts because it's a light HD night. Additionally, most shows are repeats. I plan to kick back with some traveling around the world, HD style. To keep it simple, all of my picks are one channel and all in 1080i, just in case you prefer 1080i over 720p.

I'll be tuning in Discovery-HD for my trip, starting at 8 p.m. with an episode of "Traveler". Tonight's episode features New Zealand, which if The Lord of the Rings is any indication, should be a stunning country to see. Next up is "Fantastic Festivals of the World" at 9 p.m., which re-enacts historical events from the 1800's that were key to American expansion. Last on tap is "Destination HD" at 10 p.m. which brings us to Tobago. It's a virtual trip around the work in high-definition!

NBC (1080i): Saturday Night Live (11:30 p.m.)

ABC (720p), Fox (720p), UPN (1080i), WB (1080i): All bickering over the latest sale at Wal-Mart. No HD programming.

HDNet (1080i): College Basketball: North Carolina State vs. Notre Dame (7 p.m.), Get Out! (9 p.m.), Art Mann Presents (9:30 p.m.), NHL Hockey: Canucks at Coyotes (10 p.m.)
