HDTV survey: are gender and TV size related?

Measuring Tape

A recent Panasonic survey of just over 1,000 people indicated that 1 in 4 homes will have and HDTV by the end of 2006. According to the Consumer Electronics Association, the expected 25% number was just 15% last year; clear evidence that the demand trend for high-def is quickly growing. Even more interesting is the different television size preferences between men and women.

Over 70% of the men indicated they are interested in a medium (37- to 50-inch) or large (over 51-inch) set. Women in the survey were just the opposite, with 78% looking for a small (36-inch or less) set. Hm...gives a whole new perspective to the "size does matter" argument, no?

Let's have our own informal survey in the comments. Looking for an HDTV? Based on the sizes below are you looking for Small, Medium, or Large?
