Pioneer's 1080p plasma on its way to Europe

This is some what of a surprise. 1080p, the holy grail of high-def, has not yet been available in a consumer line plasma but that is going to change in June. Pioneer is bringing its, and the worlds, first 1080p (PDP-5000EX) consumer plasma out in Europe. Its a good feeling to look at the specs of a 1080p HDTV and see that it can accept and display the signal.

Don't you think this is a somewhat strange move on Pioneer's part? Don't get me wrong Europe, we give you lots of love, but high-def is scarce over there. Why not bring out the plasma to people that can get more then 4-5 stations? Sure, Japan would make the most sense and then we guess us, but Europe?!?!
