Animal Crossing contest: Honorable mentions

After trawling through my inbox, examining every image and rolling my eyes at the umpteenth entry that had some sort of Jamaican angle, I've finally picked a winner for DS Fanboy's Animal Crossing contest. In case you're late to the anthropomorphic party, the task was to modify the above image with three simple guidelines:

  • It had to make sense.

  • It had to be funny.

  • It had to not kill me instantly.

Apart from those requirements, readers were free to get as creative as their deranged minds allowed. For the most part, you guys did an outstanding job, put a load of effort into your submissions and clearly spent a lot of time thinking up ways in which to take Miyamoto's meeting with a hardcore fan in strange and slightly creepy directions. Isn't it strange how Miyamoto's facial expression is always hilarious no matter what the context?

In Joey Chan's entry, Miyamoto shamelessly resorts to weird bird noises as he mocks the hell out of that gigantic green hat. This one gets bonus points for incorporating that foolish fellow who seriously believed Mr. Nintendo was going to sign his Sony PSP.

Zachary Stigler ponders the eternal question, "Polly want a cracker?"

Nick Calcaterra's entry reminds us that Nintendo has an enormous stable of characters...though oddly the lineup is devoid of talking horses.

Chris Noordam teams up with Don Resetti to teach us about the proper etiquette required for meeting famous game designers. But seriously folks, save your game.

Sammy Eath forces Shiggy to embrace a different culture by donning a PSP shirt and throwing up the horns. Quite shameless.

Hudson Pridham shows off some excellent photoshop skills and dresses Miyamoto and his cohorts in adorable cosplay garb. The sheer geekiness emanating from the event is only barely captured by this newspaper article.

Miyamoto makes the mistake of flashing the Revmote in front of our hardcore and ends up getting roped into an eggplant duel. Mike knows the power of non-sequitur humor.

Thank you to everyone that entered. I'll announce the winner tomorrow (with the help of a special guest!).
