News from the future: Wii outsells PS3 at launch

Gamers worried about potential Wii shortages this holiday season should be happy to hear that Nintendo Canada VP Ron Bertram is claiming the company will have one million units ready to ship for the North American launch.

This news comes less than a month after Sony announced that it would have less than half that number available for their U.S. launch, putting Nintendo in a strong position going into the holidays, supply-wise.

It would actually be nice to be able to stroll into a store and pick one of these things up without a pre-order, and a million units at launch would be a big step in that direction. No one wants to repeat the Xbox 360 launch shortages that plagued gamers last year.
