Death, Jr. 2: Root of Evil

producer James Stanley has recently created his own blog, which is hosted on IGN, and plans to start delivering regular updates on the game's progress.

In his first post, Stanley admits the camera and lighting in the original title made the game too hard and has said he's on a mission to rectify the problems.

"One of the first responsibilities I had as the producer was to make sure the feedback from critics and fans was gathered from the message boards and reviews to help us identify the major issues that needed to be addressed in the sequel," he wrote. Stanley also wrote about two other problems (not the evil llamas and chickens) he hopes to rectify and how he plans to do it. Check it out after the jump.


Improved Camera / Controls

Solution: Totally revised camera and control system to give more control to players by rotating the camera with the L & R buttons. DJ now shoots in the direction he's facing, not where the camera is facing, which solves the camera jerkiness of the first title.

Improved Storyline and More Voice-Overs
Solution: Added a ton more story in-game, including more than 16 minutes of cinematics (FMVs) plus in-game VO of the DJ characters and enemy bosses

Improved Lighting
Solution: Completely revised the lighting model in the game, including adding HDR-style lighting (a benefit from some of our PS3 R&D work), which allows for a greater range of brightness and control so that it never gets "too" dark or bright

More Replay Value
Solution: Provided 8-10 hours of gameplay through one sitting, four difficulty settings, replayable levels to search for weapon parts, play through story mode twice as DJ or Pandora, and of course, co-op mode for simultaneous two-player action.
