GuildWatch: A Hallow's End story contest

Ah yes, the MMORPG guild. Sometimes it's incredibly fun, sometimes it's incredibly frustrating. And we cover the gamut right here in our weekly column featuring the best guild drama, downings, and recruiting messages from around Azeroth.

To see your guild here next week, drop a quick email to wowguildwatch@gmail.com. We especially love to hear about the drama-- did your guild break up recently (or did you break up a guild recently)? Have any ninjas to report (or are you one)? Let us know, and, as always, anonymity will be granted upon request.

DRAMA

  • A tipster says Disorder on Emerald Dream just disbanded after one of the officers quit and started "a domino effect." Hate when that happens, but if you're the person that started the effect, it has to be pretty satisfying.

  • One of our readers sends the story of why he got /gkicked from his guild: because, as a rogue, he didn't think "follow the crowd" was enough direction from a jerk raid leader. When he asked for more guidance, the raid leader called him out in front of the group, one thing lead to another, and pretty soon the rest of the guild was talking about him behind his back, and that's never a good thing. The guy had a lot of friends in the guild, so after he got /gkicked by officers, drama exploded, and there were fights on both sides. In the end, he says, it came down to a vote, and because two of the guild leaders were relatives, he got booted out. That's drama for you. Here's what our /gkicked reader says in closing: "So scorn me or feel pity I don't care... its done and over with. But [they're] a dysfunctional guild..and it's due to poor leadership and the lack of it in the GM." Ouch!

  • Method on Burning Legion-H apparently just went through a big mutiny, leading to the forming of another guild called Precision, and lots and lots of angry alt posting on the message boards. Rumor has it that a few people in Method were angry the guild wasn't matching up to another on the server (Keepers of the Shadow) in Naxx and decided to break away. That's just rumor, of course-- anyone in the guild want to post the real story?

  • Just yesterday I was wondering about a solution to going into the expansion with a PVE guild, and now this: Dominance on Hakkar-A has simply stopped raiding until the expansion hits. No more raid attendance required until the end of November. That's one way to do it, but a few other guilds have already said GG to them. Will their members stay close until they start raiding again? Or will the call of the endgame mean a breakup for Dominance?

  • This isn't that dramatic, but it is really cool: Scions of Darkness are holding a ghost story RP contest on Steamwheedle Cartel. They've giving away a nice set of books, a piece of comic art, and "the Eastvale Players" will even perform the winning story in game. And, the contest is going to be judged by none other than Richard Knaak, the author of the War of the Ancients trilogy of Warcraft novels. Now that's awesome! Entries are due by Oct 26th, so get yours in fast.

DOWNED

  • I promised my guildies I would start with this: after downing Sulfuron for the first time on Saturday, Gothic Bunnies on Thunderhorn-H showed Hakkar the door on life. Grats to Magnetite on a guild-first Heart!

  • And while we're at it, my gnome warrior wasn't in attendance, but the good people of Escapism on Thunderhorn-A finished off Ony. Awesome!

  • Divide and Conquer on Rexxar-H also downed Hakkar this past weekend, and then went on to do a four hour clear of MC. Wild!

  • Hakkar got killed a lot this weekend-- Unholy Union on Silvermoon-H also finished him off. That whole thing he does, with the lifedrain and the poison? So much fun.

  • Dirty Little Secret (winner of this week's Best Guild Name award) on Moonrunner-A also finished off the bird-lizard-snake kind of thing that Hakkar is. What exactly do you call that? I mean, besides "Blood God."

  • The Bloodline Empire on Ursin-H finished off three: Ossirian, Hakkar, and Raggy.

  • Gray Rangers of Whisperwind (faction?) downed Broodlord Lashlayer on their first try, and Firemaw the very next day. Grats!

  • Argus Imperious on Whisperwind-A made Fankriss the Unyielding... yield. Hawt.

RECRUITING

  • Arcs Et Nature on Elune (EU) is looking for a pally, drood, and a lock to fill empty spots during their MC farms and BWL runs

  • Stark Fist of Removal (runner up for Best Guild Name) is looking for a few good people to help them end-game raid. They've already done ZG, and are working through MC-- one-shotted both Gehennas and Garr and on their first ride through!

  • JETT on Kalcgos-H is a casual guild looking for help with the 25 man Burning Crusade stuff (as well as ZG/AQ20 in the meantime)

  • Dark Warriors on Cenarion Circle-A is looking for a few good droods to help with ZG and AQ20 as well

  • The Advent on Steamwheedle Cartel-A is recruiting.

That'll do it for this week. Remember, if you want your guild to appear here, email us quick at wowguildwatch@gmail.com. Drama, downed or recruiting, we want to hear all of it!
