NPD numbers, big 360 sales, Gears on top

The NPD sales numbers for November are in, and things are looking good for Microsoft. Sales of the Xbox 360 jumped to 511k units last month, up from 218k in October. While the sales numbers are impressive, Microsoft still has a long way to go to reach their (oft reiterated) goal of 10 million units by year's end. In related news, Gears of War was the clear winner in game sales last month. Selling 1 million copies (collector's edition included) and grossing $61.5 million, it even trounced one of the Playstation 2's biggest titles, Final Fantasy XII, which sold 896k units (the biggest launch of a Final Fantasy title to date, by the way). This is an outstanding achievement for an original IP, especially compared to an entrenched brand name like Final Fantasy. Any of you pick up your 360 last month?
