Did Konami can Coded Arms: Assault?

You're all probably thinking it: "Oh, that game... wasn't it less-than-spectacular at the Tokyo Game Show?" Our answer: what? Because we never played it, you never played it, hell, no one will ever play it. According to Japanese magazine Famitsu, which is pretty much sacred in the Japanese video game industry, Konami has closed the books on the project. It was scheduled for a second quarter release of this year and it was a pretty neat concept, really. Why the sudden cancellation? We don't know -- it's a rumor. Why would Famitsu supposedly start this rumor? Who knows, but without official word, we're going to say that it isn't yet, but Konami is heavily considering it.

Why? Don't we normally dismiss rumors here as garbage? Yeah, but you're forgetting Nick Doerr's rule of thumb when considering the validity of such rumors: the source (anonymous? Filtered through a blog desperately trying to increase traffic for no reason?). The source is Famitsu. They're very reliable, believe it or not. They're a named source with a high circulation -- they don't benefit from starting up a false rumor unless there was a strong basis in fact. What do you guys think? Rumor true or false? Ring your bells, now!
