VC Monday Madness: post-game wrap-up 3/12/07

Now that we've had enough time to download this week's Virtual Console offerings and play them for a bit, we're ready to give you all the low-down on what's hot and what's not. With a trio of titles available to consumers this week, and Nintendo's inability to give us free demo downloads of these games like someone else, we've giving them a run through the gauntlet, ready to give you the word on their worth. So, without further ado, head on past the post break and check out what we had to say.

Tecmo Bowl - NES - 1-2 players - 500 Wii Points
Wii Fanboy says: download it!

Of course, our nostalgia may be getting the best of us, along with our incredible love of the game of Football (American Football for all of you outside the United States), but we can't help but endorse the download of this title. The multiplayer adds a lot of value to the game, so if you're the type of gamer who practices their obsession alone, then you might want to consider this purchase a little longer.

Sonic Spinball - Sega Genesis - 1-4 players - 800 Wii Points
Wii Fanboy says: do not download

Sonic Spinball is an odd title. For one, Sonic fans would probably disagree with our verdict that this game is easily forgotten. On the other hand, pinball fans might find the game has some value and also disagree with our verdict. Still, for us, we feel the game costs too much and is just too short to warrant purchase.

Double Dungeons - TurboGrafx16 - 1-2 players - 600 Wii Points
Wii Fanboy says: do not download

This was the toughest call for us this week. With a cost of 600 Wii Points and the allure of a long gameplay session due to the title's genre (see: RPG), we initially thought this game would be easily recommended. Double Dungeon's gameplay, however, has not stood the test of time and only left us, frankly, bored. RPG junkies will find the title to their liking, but the rest won't find much worth writing home about.

Another week of Virtual Console releases and we find ourselves reliving childhood memories of horrible sweaters and plate-loads of turkey and mashed potatoes. As always, if you have any tips or rumors regarding Nintendo's Virtual Console service, be sure to let us know and come back next week when we take a look at the latest titles available on the Nintendo Wii.
