Midway assures fans it has overcome PS3 difficulties

Midway is a company that has learned its lesson. After dealing with the delay mess that was Stranglehold, not to mention the awkwardly delayed Unreal Tournament 3, CEO David Zucker came out to say that stuff is behind the company and all should go smoothly from now on. He said, "For our first wave of next-gen games... lead development has been on the Xbox 360, due to its earlier introduction and larger installed base. We ran into some technical issues developing for the PlayStation 3 that have taken more time to finalize than we expected ... We do believe that these technical issues are now complete at a core level in our engine." Meaning games will ship the same day as the 360 versions. Hopefully.

The relationship between Sony and Epic Games remains unchanged and Midway is offering its support in keeping those exclusives rolling at a constant rate. "Our expected product plan is to release a PC version of Unreal Tournament 3 this November, and a PS3 version as soon as it's ready. At this point, we have not announced any timing for an Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament 3." Another piece of info was gleaned regarding an "open-world" project for the PS3 that has yet to be announced. What that is, nobody knows. Because it hasn't been announced.
