New Second Life Windlight release - 1.18.6.76886

The First Look release of the Second LifeWindlight project has been updated with a number of bug-fixes wrapped up in a tasty new First Look viewer. What the heck is Windlight all about? Check out our feature on it here.

More details and a list of fixes and changes after the fold. Major highlights include fixes for some Mac bugs/crashes, fix for the big black bands/rings in the sky, and rendering fixes for water, tree-lighting, and distant terrain.

The First Look browser is a beta-test browser that runs against the main (Agni) grid. If it eats your inventory, your files and your dog, that's at your own risk. The viewer is available from the First Look downloads page right now. We recommend the use of a download manager to save download time - it can cut 90% or more off the overall download time for many users.

Changes for this release:

  • Trees are no longer lit by local lights.

  • MISC-869: WindLight: Disk image for 1.18.6.76453 won't mount on Mac OS X

  • VWR-3226: WindLight: Terrain near draw distance is sometimes "checkerboarded" and not rendered

  • VWR-3287: WindLight: Tree lighting appears uneven and harsh during certain times

  • VWR-3437: WindLight: Crash after switching from window to fullscreen mode

  • VWR-3466: Aspect Ratio and fullscreen resolution settings not sticky

  • VWR-3666: WindLight: "Fullscreen Aspect Ratio" should be grayed out when "Auto-detect" is checked

  • VWR-3958: Sky Mesh Detail shows stripes/bands/circles in the sky

  • VWR-3963: Windlight 1-18-6-76116 does not load

  • Crash on mac... another glFlush outside

  • Bogus "computer does not meet Second Life's minimum system requirements" warning from Windlight

  • WindLight: Fog Density Exponent slider doesn't go to 0.0 correctly

  • Make Help windows for advanced environmental shaders in windlight be child windows out to the side

  • some old water shader makes water flicker

  • On Vista in fullscreen using a 8800GTS, impostor updates cause a blank frame

  • glow flickers A LOT

  • avatars are rendered in wrong region for a frame after crossing region boundary
