VC Monday Madness video wrap-up 2/4/08

We apologize for how tardy this is, but something very unfortunate happened. You see, the tripod on our camera broke. This meant trying to balance a camera on a stack of about a billion DVDs. It didn't come out perfect, but at least we got you a majority of the screen.

As for next week, you can get back to expecting the usual high-quality NWF-quality video coverage of the Virtual Console releases.

Columns III: Revenge of Columns (Sega Genesis, 1 - 5 players, 800 Wii Points)
Wii Fanboy says: do not download!

Perhaps it's just this blogger's personal preference, but the Columns line-up of games has never been suited to me. I'm a fan of the puzzle genre, as a lot of you may well know, but Columns is just not my cup of tea. It's a slower-paced puzzle title, so maybe a lot of the tension brought on by other titles in the genre is missing here. Whatever it is, I just don't like the game too much.

Operation Wolf (NES, 1 player, 500 Wii Points)
Wii Fanboy says: do not download!

The NES counterpart to Arcade shooter Operation Wolf may bring back fond memories of having that Zapper in your hand, blowing away baddies like it was going out of style, but in being transitioned to the Wii, it's lost much. The aiming is sloppy, and the aiming sensitivity is either too high or too low. Overall, this game is just a bad port and not worth your 5 bucks.

That concludes our look at this week's Virtual Console games. As always, if you have any tips or rumors regarding Nintendo's Virtual Console service, be sure to let us know and come back next week when we take a look at the latest titles available on the Nintendo Wii.
