Win a chance to play Age of Conan PvP [updated]

So would you like to play some Age of Conan PvP non-stop starting on April 18th and going through to the 20th? If so then Funcom, Eidos and GameSpot have just the beta event for you -- with a catch. You've got to go through the GameSpot website to sign up for the chance to be one of 15,000 lucky winners, which means you also need to have a GameSpot account to sign up in the first place. We're not all too happy about the GameSpot side of this awesome beta event, but read on to find out why we think it's still very much worth it to sign up.

Update: It looks like the sign-up page is having technical issues that are being worked on.

Before you get all disinterested on us, there are some very cool things happening in the beta event. All 12 player classes will be available to try out, which on its own would be quite awesome. However, players will also get the chance to use the insane character creator and then upon entering the game-world will be transmogrified into a fully-specced level 20 character. This will be a great chance to try out all the classes and see which one you'd like to be the most.

This is purely a PvP scenario test, meaning no open-world leveling, questing or Border Kingdoms gameplay -- it's only Capture the Skull and Team Annihilation scenarios. So expect to be waiting in PvP lobbies where you can chat with other players prior to going into battle. Overall we have to say it's a cool chance to try the game out, but we wish that the GameSpot accounts weren't involved -- it makes us feel dirty all over.

If you -- like us -- will do anything to play some Age of Conan, then the GameSpot's page to sign up isn't very far.
