Activision details Guitar Hero World Tour's features

Guitar Hero IV World Tour has been further unwrapped today to reveal many more details on what we can expect from the game. Pegged as the "definitive rock and roll music videogaming experience," Guitar Hero World Tour will include "new state of the art wireless instruments." Yes, that means buying more plastic peripherals, bringing the total number of plastic guitars lying around your front room to a frankly ridiculous number. Don't be surprised to see a Guitar Hero branded guitar rack brought to market. But let's not give them any ideas ...

World Tour will have the "largest on-disc set list in a music-rhythm game to-date," all of which will be master recordings. Expect to see songs from the likes of Van Halen, Linkin Park, The Eagles and Sublime. The drum set promises to be the most realistic videogame drumset available, with three drum pads, two raised cymbals and a bass kick pedal. There will also be "significantly more localized downloadable music than ever before" as well as fully customizable characters, complete with user-generated band logos and cover art.

User-generated content seems to be a big part of World Tour as it will include a full compliment of tools for players to create their own tracks within the game. Once that's done the tracks can be shared with friends via the hilariously named GHTunes platform online. Other interesting features include Battle Of The Bands, in which two complete bands can play against each other online and determine exactly which rocks harder.

Is World Tour just a rip off of Rock Band? Sure, but it's a rip off with extra bits and these just might be intriguing enough to get us to sacrifice even more of our house to another set of plastic instruments.
