When it really got crazy, however, was when we killed Herod
a couple times, and both of our Warriors walked away with their very own Ravager
. The proc on the Ravager
is generally considered to pretty undesirable, mostly because it locks you into it, and you're unable to use any special moves
during the time unless you cancel it. However, Alex and I exulted in it. We ran into the Cathedral
with it, and somehow Alex managed to pull Mograine
while half the Cathedral was still teeming with Scarlets. I'm not sure how, but we managed to down Mograine anyway. Unfortunately, we then somehow managed to down Whitemane before she could rez Mograine, and we went away from that run without any loot from them.
Then there was the Razorfen Downs run where we must have pulled half the Quillboar in the dungeon, sending them in to die beneath our spinning Ravager blades as the poor casters ran about for dear life with no tanks to protect them properly -- because the tanks, you see, were too busy squealing with joy as they spun around and around again.
I'm not sure why those Ravager groups worked or why they were so much fun. The people were some of the best WoW players and coolest people I've had the pleasure of knowing online, the insanity of the breakneck tankless pulls was madcap and breathtaking enough to fun, and the novelty of a completely crazy piece of equipment that shouldn't technically be useful only added to the equation. It's not likely I'll ever really find a combination again, if only because high level dungeons aren't that forgiving, but with every new piece of content since then, I keep my eye out for an upgraded version of the Ravager, in hopes that one day maybe we can get the group back together and do another Ravager run.
