US: Holly Conlan, You Are Goodbye - Single of the Week
Each week we find a track from an artist or a band we've been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. Holly Conlan's songs are graceful and lyrical - her lack of pretension, blessed also with fierce confidence at the piano, makes her music easy to admire and difficult to forget. When not performing with her own band at L.A. venues such as Tangier, The Roxy and the venerable Hotel Cafe, Holly can be heard singing back up with Hollywood stalwarts Buddy, Meiko and Gary Jules. She also cut her teeth at 2007's CMJ and 2008's SXSW festivals. The Bird EP was produced by Al Sgro (Meiko, Buddy, Gary Jules), mixed by Bryan Cook (Inara George) and mastered by Roger Siebel (Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse). Released in February of 2008, it has already been featured twice on the CW's hit show, One Tree Hill
US: Steve Reynolds, Save Your Best - Discovery Download
Our Discovery Download puts the focus on a different genre each week, offering up a free track we think is worth your attention. Steve Reynolds is a name we've been hearing a bit lately. The talented guitar player/songwriter hails from Southern California (Canada, originally) and has unearthed a heavy amount of mellow gold on his new album The Carnival Papers. "Save Your Best" shows off his stellar, finger-picking style and layers that with one of his most emotional, whispering melodies.
US: M.J., Lento (Ella Se Mueve) - Canción de la Semana
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Canción de la Semana. Like many of the big club-fillers on M.J.'s Mi Sentimiento, "Lento (Ella Se Mueve)" makes a perfect combination out of M.J.'s sugar-sweet melodies and slick, booming beats. This tune is showered with intergalactic synth patterns that make the thick, chunky rhythm feel like it's being beamed straight back from the future.

Australia: Amy Meredith, Black Eyes - Single of the Week
Each week we find a track from an artist or a band we've been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. Amy Meredith (the band are a "they" not a "she") are a Sydney basedband, formed in 2006 with the ambitious goal to write music that was fresh and not so generic. They played their first show in January 2007 and have since built a solid following in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. After touring with the likes of Hard-Fi and Silversun Pickups, Amy Meredith recorded their debut EP with Sydney producers John Hardy and Peter Mayes (Pnau) in January 2008. The self-titled 4-track features the Smiths/Joy Division-inspired single "Black Eyes".

Canada: Elliott Brood, Fingers and Tongues - Single of the Week
Each week we find a track from an artist or a band we've been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. Elliott Brood are a trio from Ontario who specialize in conjuring up the darker corners of the country and folk music, while still working in the indie rock idiom. "Fingers and Tongues" is one of the more upbeat numbers from their new release Mountain Meadows. Heavy with reverb and breathy enunciation, the triumphant track follows a galloping beat into the sunset, inadvertently waving flags of appreciation to bands like Wilco and Sunny Day Real Estate (the last minute of track has a passionate rage not unlike the tunes penned by the latter's Jeremy Enigk).
Nederland: Marbert Rocel, Cornflake Boy - Single van de week
Elke week vinden we een nummer van een artiest of band die wij goed vinden, en bieden wij je die gratis aan, als Single van de Week. De titel van dit nummer van de Duitse technoband lijkt misschien alsof het een antwoord is op het nummer "Cornflake Girl", van Tori Amos. Wellicht is dat het ook, maar het lijkt ook verdacht veel op een vrouw die lekker aan het ontbijten is, en denkt aan haar geliefde. De backbeat is een minimalistische funk, op de Basement Jaxx manier, en de altijd aanwezige "crunch" is voor de broodnodige fun.
UK: Cage the Elephant, Ain't No Rest For The Wicked - Single of the Week
Each week we find a track from an artist or a band we've been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. Cage the Elephant come from a small town in the American south. Bowling Green, Kentucky to be specific. "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" is a slide-guitar-addled bit of rock-funk that sounds like it could be used to charm snakes out of the ground. Singer Matt Shultz comes across like Jack White in full-tilt preacher mode while his band get deep into the voodoo boogie. It sets the stage for the group, who have been making fans all over thanks to opening gigs with Foals and Queens of the Stone Age. Also: they know how to make a sleeveless t-shirt look good.
France: Revolver, Leave Me Alone - Single de la semaine
Ce trio parisien libère tout son charme acoustique sur une pop douce inspirée par nos voisins britanniques. Baptisé d'après le chef-d'œuvre des Beatles, le groupe brasse des harmonies riches avec des accords tout simples pour un impact maximum.
