Each week we find a track from an artist or a band we've been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. Scars on Broadway is the group started up by System of a Down members Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan who insist this is more of a side-project than proof that System of a Down is no more. Either way, it's a good thing as Scars on Broadway rule in their own particular way. "They Say" is driven by some knuckle-dragging riffs and Malakian's sneering, Johnny Rotten-esque vocals and crazed guitar lines. It's a blazing track and we hope you enjoy it.

After 10 years of serving his country as a covert operative, Michael Westen is living every spy's worst nightmare. While in the middle of a dangerous mission in Nigeria, Michael's "contact" informs him that he has been burned. When a spy gets fired, he doesn't get a call from human resources and a gold watch. In Michael's case, they jeopardize his life, freeze his bank accounts, dump him in Miami, and flag him on every government list known to man. They burn him. Now Michael has a much different mission: he must find out who issued his burn notice and why he was blacklisted so that he can put his life back together. As he gets closer to the truth, Michael scrapes by helping out whoever needs his services - mostly desperate people who can't go to the police. Using his Special Ops training, some duct tape, and his sardonic humor, Michael becomes a reluctant hero. It's a dangerous gig, but it's the best he can do . . . for now.

US: Greatest American Dog, Greatest American Dog, Season 1
Twelve extraordinary teams of dogs and owners from across the nation will compete for the title of Greatest American Dog. Hosted by zoologist/TV personality Jarod Miller, owners and their pets - from "pageant dogs" to those simply trained at home - will live together and compete against each other in challenges that put the owners' ability to train their dogs to the test. Each week, the judges - Wendy Diamond (author, and founder and editor-in-chief of Animal Fair Magazine), Allan Reznick (editor-at-large of Dog World and Dog Fancy Magazine) and Victoria Stilwell (author and host of the television series It's Me or the Dog) will eliminate one dog and their owner. The last remaining team will walk away with a $250,000 cash prize and the title of Greatest American Dog.

Four friends start a band through their love of electro jams, psych guitars and sci-fi atmospherics. Influenced by futuristic classics like the Bladerunner soundtrack, 80's Pink Floyd, and Vangelis, and fascinated by cosmic realms, they called themselves Mission Control. Their EP "Innerspace" is out soon, but you can get an early taste by downloading "Chariots Of Fire" - it's the iTunes free Single Of The Week.

Canada: The Midway State, Never Again - Single of the Week
Each week we find a track from an artist or a band we've been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. This Toronto-based quartet is no stranger to international stages, having even graced the storied Olympia in Paris. No surprise given such strong tracks as "Never Again", taken from the forthcoming album Holes, slated for release in late July. The easy tempo combined with singer Nathan Ferraro's clear, light tenor and Mike Wise's rhythm guitar - reminiscent of The Edge on occasion - creates an iresistable melancholy, the perfect setting for an afternoon drive in late summer. The chorus abruptly shifts gears and propels this unpretentious earnestness towards its unexpected sudden ending. If this kind of well-structured songwriting is anything to go by, we can't wait for the album to drop.

Neil Cowley is the pianist who drives the music to a new place on this track from his instrumental trio's second album, Loud . . Louder . . . Stop!. Cowley was poised from an early age to become a classical pianist, but his love of jazz and the immediacy of soul and rock hit him hard and the music he makes now explodes with energy and vitality. It's soul-jazz with an indie-rock complexity. Just have a listen.
