After the craziness of E3, we were ready to get back to a bit of normalcy. And what could be more normal than some shmups being released on the Virtual Console? Nothing, that's what! So, hit up the video above for the games in motion, then be sure to head past the break for the rest.

Super Fantasy Zone (Sega Genesis, 1 player, 900 Wii Points)
Wii Fanboy says: download it!

Super Fantasy Zone is a lot like Fantasy Zone on the Sega Master System. Now, that's not to say the title doesn't have its own merits, because, when you get down to it, Super Fantasy Zone is quite the fun time. You won't be disappointed in this colorful and accessible shooter.

Gley Lancer (Sega Genesis, 1 player, 900 Wii Points)
Wii Fanboy says: download it!

Gley Lancer is a pretty good shmup. It offers you a variety of ways to utilize your arsenal, allowing for a different approach to the game depending on what the player wants to do. On top of that, the action is constant and you're always going to be shooting this or dodging that, making for a tense and fun experience. If you're a fan of the genre, don't overlook this gem.

Each week, we here at Wii Fanboy like to check out the latest Virtual Console releases in our VC Monday Madness feature, for you, in the hopes that you can make the most sound decision you can regarding purchasing retro titles on the Wii.
