Wii owners exceed 14 million in Europe

14.2 million people across Europe own a Wii, according to Nintendo of Europe. Over the course of 2008, Nintendo managed to unload 8.3 million Wii consoles which, when compared to 2007 sales figures, is a 58% rise in sales. Not too shabby, when you consider the console suffered from supply issues throughout the year.

Nintendo set a European record for annual sales for home consoles. Breaking it down even more, Nintendo managed to sell 2.9 million alone in 2008 in the UK, bringing the total there to 4.9 million. We're waiting on official word from Nintendo on worldwide sales figures, but it's expected to be more than 40 million. What's next for Nintendo?
