Massively interview: Part 3 of Thom Terrazas in his new role as EverQuest's producer

Massively:
What do the current players of EverQuest have to look forward to in the near future?

TT: We're looking at live content right now, and improving that. We're trying to make sure that there is new content, something coming out on a continual basis. I think we've noticed that content was coming out a bit slower, and we want to make sure that it's on more of an interval, so that by the time you're done with the content we put out, there's something cool and new coming right behind it. We want to keep your interest, and keep that level of fun going.

Massively: It's certainly quite a feat for a game of EverQuest's age.

TT: Exactly, it is. The challenge is for the entire team to look outside of the box and try and do something new, something that hasn't been done in the game before. Working on those new ideas that are actually capable of being done is the key, and doing them in a timely manner.

Massively: How about the former players that take a look at the news now and then, or those that have become familiar with MMOs and are just hearing of EverQuest for the first time. What makes EQ a compelling choice for their MMO gaming?

TT: I would have to say that one of the biggest things is the vast amount of content. This is a game that's ten years old, but it's a balanced and polished game. I think with online games, they're like living beings. Sure, there might be some issues here and there, but for the most part, this is a game that has stood the test of time. It's got some great balance to the different classes, and not to mention the people that you meet in the game are very passionate about it. Since coming back to the team, I've gone in and started playing again, and it's simply amazing how much people are willing to help you when you've let them know that you're a new player. They just welcome you with open arms, and it really helps get you entrenched into the content.

Massively: Is there anything else that you'd like to let the Massively readers know?

TT: I really just wanted to introduce myself again, let them know that I stumbled onto the scene about 11 years ago when EverQuest was within a year of launching, and I've seen this grow from just a hope, to putting out an actual game of EverQuest's stature. There were other games before EverQuest, but there's never really been anything like this. I would like to say congratulations for everybody, and the Massively readers, for supporting us by playing our game and keeping the game going as long as it has been, and as long as it will be.

Massively: Thom, thank you very much for your time!
