Patch 3.2: Argent Coliseum 5-man story and encounters, Pt. 2

(You enter the instance and Tirion announces the beginning of your trial.)

Tirion: Welcome to the Trials of the Crusader! Only the most powerful combatants of Azeroth are allowed to undergo these trials. You are among the worthy few!

Which brings us to our first fight! For each boss, I'll list their voice introductions or other important information, and then their list of related spells I've been able to find. The list may not be exhaustive.

EADRIC THE PURE

Eadric: Are you up to the challenge? I will not hold back!

Radiance -- Eadric becomes suffused with light, causing all nearby enemies who look upon him to suffer 4750 to 5250 Holy damage and wander blindly for 2 sec. (3 second cast)
Vengeance -- Eadric's melee attacks have a chance to cause his next melee swing to be a critical strike.
Hammer of Justice -- Stuns an enemy, rendering them vulnerable to Hammer of the Righteous and unable to move or attack for 6 sec. (Magic effect)
Hammer of the Righteous -- Hurls a hammer that strikes an enemy for 14000 Holy damage. If the target is not affected by Hammer of Justice, this Hammer may be caught and thrown back at the caster. (Eadric narrates this move like he's playing Street Fighter. "HAMMER...OF...THE RIGHTEOUS!!")

You've likely seen this guy hanging around the Argent Crusade tent at the Tournament Grounds. He's one of the bigwig Crusade reps. What you may not have known is that he's a foppish dandy who needs to learn to play.

What I can gather from the spells is pretty clear: Eadric uses a Yogg-Saron-style "don't look at me" move, as well as a number of other paladin abilities, including Hammer of Justice. Thankfully for us, this Hammer of Justice is a magical effect and can be dispelled. If it's not dispelled, Eadric will combo it into Hammer of the Righteous and do heavy damage to whoever he's targeted.

If it IS dispelled, however, you can throw it right back at his precious face and hurt him good. I don't know if this happens automatically or whether it's something you click, but there's a buff spell titled "Hammer of the Righteous" that tells you to throw it back at him, so it may simply show up in your inventory or be a new button on your action bar. Regardless of how you do it, there's an achievement for it.

His Radiance has a three-second cast time, so just turn around and don't face him during the cast and you should be all set.

And, when you defeat him, he says, in a show of strength and humility becoming of a paladin:

Eadric the Pure: I yield! I submit! Excellent work! ... May I run away now?

Eadric looks to be a pretty straightforward fight with some fun twists. And that brings us to our next battle: Argent Confessor Paletress!

ARGENT CONFESSOR PALETRESS

Paletress: Thank you, good Herald. Your words are too kind. May the Light give me strength to provide a worthy challenge. Well then, shall we begin?

Holy Smite -- Smites an enemy, inflicting 4500 to 5500 Holy damage.
Renew -- Heals a friendly target for 20000 every 3 sec.
Holy Fire -- Consumes an enemy in flames, burning it and inflicting additional Fire damage every 2 sec. over 8 sec.
Confess -- Force the target to confess their darkest memories.
Summon Memory -- Summons a memory from the past.
Holy Nova -- Causes an explosion of divine light, inflicting 7000 to 9000 Holy damage to nearby enemies and knocking them back.
Waking Nightmare -- Strikes fear in nearby enemies, causing them to flee in terror for 3 sec.
Shadows of the Past -- Shadows of the past writhe around the target, inflicting Shadow damage and reducing attack and casting speeds by 90% for 4 sec.

I have no idea whether all of these abilities are hers, but they were all in the same place in the spell list. Some may be Heroic mode only.

So, you look at her list and you see a bunch of basic priest abilities, and then! Then you see "Summon Memory." That does exactly what players have been asking for for a long time -- summons an old boss for you to fight. The list is pretty long and includes everyone from Algalon to Thunderaan to Mutanus to Hogger. Yes. Heroic Hogger.

Whether the summons will be miniature (or scaled-up, depending) versions of the encounters or whether they'll simply come beat you up is still up in the air. The dungeon isn't open yet. But that's Paletress' big gimmick: bringing old bosses back into the fold. It sounds like a blast and I can't wait to try it.

<< Wait, go back! What's next? >>
