The Tattered Notebook: Community guide to EverQuest II

Brave adventurers from across Norrath, I bid you welcome to my humble pages of scripture. It is no secret that Norrath is a dangerous place. From the shining towers of Qeynos to the dark alleys of Freeport, plots of intrigue are woven every day. These plots, these many threads of darkness and deceit, are the reason I have created this notebook. By writing down my many experiences and the things I learn, I hope that I can guide you from afar, even after I pass on and leave this book behind.

Each week, I will be adding a new journal entry to these pages -- delving into the depths of the physical land as well as the culture of Norrath. For this first week, however, I want to first document the many other sources of knowledge in the world. You, the reader, should have access to these sources, for you never know when they will come in handy.

The Official EverQuest II Forums

A very important site for adventurers to keep up with is, of course, the official forums. There you can discuss everything from class dynamics to new and upcoming content with the EQII community and the developers all in one stride.

Forum Topic of the Week

Much like the human starship captain, Kyle Horner, I too am interested in highlighting trending topics in the community each week. For this first week, I've chosen an older but a very pertinent guide on leveling your Alternate Advancement points. This guide shows you how to balance your alternate advancement slider bar at 100% with a steady gain in leveling experience. Soon, you'll be braving even the toughest monsters in no time.

Below here is a comprehensive set of resources that may be of use to any adventurer, young or old. If you have more sites for me to add to this collection, feel free to comment below, send me a mail via the Norrathian Express, or contact my human friend Seraphina Brennan at seraphina AT massively DOT com.

The Official SOE Podcast
If I didn't list this, certain people in a certain company would break certain areas of my leg region. I like my legs the way they are -- intact. But really, The Official SOE Podcast is what you want to listen to for official EQII news.

EQ2's Day
Hosted by Dellmon and Zanadi, EQ2's Day is a weekly podcast that is not only recorded, it can be listened to live! Each Tuesday, you can tune in from 4 PM to 6 PM (7 PM to 9 PM EST) and listen to the podcast as it occurs on Online Gaming Radio.

EQ2Flames.com
Powered by the constant buzz of discussion and drama, EQ2Flames is the dominating set of unofficial forums. Providing a "free speech" outlet, EQ2Flames gets a share of controversy, but it also has a great set of guides and strategies that even a dimwitted ogre could appreciate. And we all know how hard it is for an ogre to appreciate anything.

Kithicor.org
A huge roleplaying guild located in the (disgusting) realm of Antonia Bayle, Kithicor is a great haven for roleplayers and non-roleplayers alike. Kithicor is involved in many different projects, so stop by to just say hello or jump in and get involved (or track them down and kill them in the name of the Overlord). (Editor's Note: We're still trying to teach Seccia to be unbiased in her reporting. Apologies to anyone who may take offense.)

ZAM.com
The original EverQuest database is, of course, one of the most trusted databases for EverQuest II. ZAM has a variety of resources available for any adventurer, new to Norrath or facing some of the most dangerous areas of the world.

EQ2 Atlas
You'll never get lost again with EQ2 Atlas. While the in-game map is very helpful, EQ2 Atlas gives you more information on monsters and quests so you know exactly where to go to find your next mob.

EQ2 Interface
Did you want to change that interface around a little bit? Worry no more with EQ2 Interface, the main website for all of your UI modding needs. Download, discuss, and create at your whim.

EQ2Players.com
The hub of all things EverQuest II, EQ2 players is the armory database combined with the forums, combined with community resources rolled all in one. It's your news page,

The EverQuest II team is very active on Twitter, so it's not exactly hard to talk with the development team or get the latest developments straight from the source. Also, as an added bonus, these team members will tweet about things outside EverQuest II, and you'll get to hear about how Kiara died on a press tour.

Alan "Brenlo" Crosby
The former community management head turned executive producer, Brenlo is certainly a person you'll want to follow on Twitter. He keeps his tweets short and sweet, but you might get some EQII information out of him if you listen long enough.

Christine "Kiara" Renzetti
Kiara, one of the community managers assigned to EverQuest II, is sure to keep your day filled with EQII information, as well as SOE workplace tweets.

Tiffany "Amnerys" Spence
By far the most active of the EQII tweeters, it's not hard to discuss anything with community manager Amnerys, from Browncoats to online gaming at large.

Massively's dark elf reporter around town, Seccia Ravenloft, is a committed follower of the Overlord. When not adventuring, Seccia prefers a large ale and the company of kittens. She can be reached in Norrath via the Norrathian Express Mail (Server: Lucan D'Lere), or via her human friend, Seraphina Brennan, at seraphina AT massively DOT com.
