NintendoWare Weekly: Fenimore Fillmore, Samurai Shodown 3

Today's WiiWare offering is Fenimore Fillmore: The Westerner, a colorful cowboy adventure game peppered with a few action minigames. It's a perfect choice if you liked Red Dead Redemption, but didn't care so much for all the poverty, murder, rape, gambling, drinking, theft, extortion, hoodwinking and so forth. It's still got a pretty cool horse, though.

The Virtual Console lineup has been expanded with Samurai Shodown III for NEOGEO, and a couple of new DSiWare games have been added to the store. You do enjoy Mahjong, don't you?

WiiWare

  • Fenimore Fillmore "The Westerner" (Revistronic, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points): A colorful point-and-click adventure set in the wacky West. Also available on PC.

Virtual Console

  • Samurai Shodown III (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, 900 Wii Points): Twelve samurai seek to defeat Zankuro Minazuki -- and in a stunning failure of organization spend most of the time fighting each other.

DSiWare

  • Simply Mahjong (Engine Software, 1 player, 200 DSi Points): A rare instance of a game's title and its design pitch being one and the same.

  • My Exotic Farm (BiP Media, 1-2 players, 200 DSi Points): Like all citizens just beginning a new life in America, "all you own is an empty field, a few pennies and a single parrot." Build your farm, acquire more animals and eventually earn the greatest beast of them all: the 4x4.

  • Music on: Acoustic Guitar (Abylight, 1 player, 200 DSi Points): On-screen chords show you where to place your fingers on a real guitar. There's also a metronome, the ability to save ten jam sessions and "a palm mute function." We should get this for that noisy one growing outside our window.
