WRUP: A decade of games edition

Today's WRUP is all about asking: what were three games you really enjoyed playing this past decade. They don't have to be "the best," heck, most people don't even have to like them. So, as you're letting us know what you're playing this weekend, we're curious to hear the three games you enjoyed during the years 2000-2009? We've also listed ours after the break.

Oh, as for the picture of The Sims, turns out it released January 31, 2000. It may not have been the first game to kick off the decade, but it's hard to argue it wasn't one of the most influential and successful. So, what's everyone playing this weekend?

  • Alexander Sliwinski (@XanderSliwinski): Hinkle and I are probably going to play plenty of Modern Warfare 2 and maybe some Battlefield: Bad Company. [As for games this decade: Sims; Civilization III and IV]

  • Andrew Yoon (@scxzor): Going to dive into the Saboteur. Should I use the boobie patch though? [Ikaruga; Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask; F-Zero GX]

  • Ben Gilbert (@BigBossBgilbert): Jumping into Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story while waiting for various PC games to install on Steam. Hopefully some Borderlands as well if I get a chance! [Super Smash Bros. Melee; Resident Evil 4; Burnout Paradise]

  • Christopher Grant (@ChrisGrant): Stuck at CES, I'm going to be playing games at the show ... like Muscle March, which I just spent some time with. It's a simple concept wrapped in a magically bizarre, muscle-bound, thonged shell. You'll love it! [Note: This list is in no way definitive and is not necessarily in order! Fable 2; WarioWare: Twisted!; Shadow of the Colossus]

  • David Hinkle (@DaveHinkle): I'll be spending lots 'o time with Bayonetta this weekend, which should be spinning in my Xbox 360 tray by the time anyone reads this. I've also received my Mirror's Edge replacement (scratched disc, so it couldn't be played), I'm going to spend some time finishing Time Trials and try to wrap up the last Achievements. I may even check out the Pure Time Trials DLC, if I'm feeling particularly saucy. [Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater; Metroid Prime; Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker]

  • Griffin McElroy (@griffinmcelroy): You know, I think I'm this close to finishing Dragon Age. I can feel the end approaching, and it makes me glad, because I have soooo many other games to play. [World of Warcraft; BioShock; RPG Maker (PS1)]

  • James Ransom-Wiley: Just got the Xbox back from the shop and -- what's this? -- now I have the PS3 YLOD? For real. [Gitaroo Man; Halo: Combat Evolved; Rainbow Six 3 (Xbox Live)]

  • JC Fletcher (@jcfletcher): I plan to stumble through some more Crystal Bearers before starting up Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. [Gitaroo Man (that was seriously the first thing I considered putting on the list, before I saw it on James's!); Katamari Damacy; Bangai-O Spirits]

  • Justin McElroy (@JustinMcElroy): I'm going to ride Ruin all the way to the end of Darksiders and ... I don't know, maybe some Modern Warfare 2? [The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion; BioShock; Psychonauts]

  • Kevin Kelly (@gadgetguy): I'm in the same boat as Richard ... I shamefully never finished the original Mass Effect. Plus I haven't finished Borderlands. Or Dragon Age: Origins. Or Fallout 3. Or Fable 2 (completely). See the trend here? With that in mind, I'll be spending my gaming weekend in Darksiders. Mwahahaha! [Grand Theft Auto III; Ico; Portal]

  • Ludwig Kietzmann (@LudwigK): I'm going to spend most of the week playing Time Splitter -- yes, singular. As in, I'll have to split my time between Bayonetta, Darksiders, Final Fantasy: The Crystal Bearers and an ill-timed Mass Effect replay. Time Splitter, as you can see, has quite an intimidating level of difficulty. [No One Lives Forever; Beyond Good & Evil; Mirror's Edge]

  • Mike Schramm (@MikeSchramm): Continuing my journey through the hits of PS3 yesteryear with Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction. Also in the mood for a racing game, so I may buy WipEout HD as well. [World of Warcraft; Rock Band; Grand Theft Auto III]

  • Randy Nelson (@DangerPenguin) I've just played through both disc-based Ratchet & Clank games for PS3 and am about to tackle Quest for Booty. I've never been able to stop playing Rachet games once I get on a roll. That, and I'm hopelessly addicted to Trajectile on DSiWare. It's so good. [BioShock; God of War; Metal Gear Solid 3]

  • Richard Mitchell (@SenseiRAM): Bayonetta is a lot of fun, and I may delve further into my second playthrough. On the other hand, I still need to finish Assassin's Creed II and Borderlands. I also need to start and finish Mass Effect. I never got around to it, okay?! [Super Smash Bros. Melee; Metroid Prime; Halo: Combat Evolved]

  • Xav de Matos (@Xav): After picking up an intense new video card, I'm going to push through Crysis, Crysis Warhead and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Complete 2009, a visual upgrade mod for the original (and fantastic) Shadow of Chernobyl. Also, in my quest to replay the entire Splinter Cell series, I've finally make it to Chaos Theory. [Portal; Shadow of the Colossus; Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory]

  • Justin Glow (@justinglow): (Life is a game)
