Choose My Adventure: I'm cheating on you

Choose the adventures of the WoW.com staff as we level our characters in <It came from the Blog> on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H).

I still have many moving chores to do, but if I do play tonight, I'll be cheating on you and Robinemia by playing Roblin the Goblin. Or maybe I should play Robiness the Worgeness. Hmmmm ... I feel a poll coming on. But polls are for Friday. Wednesday is advice and story day. First, here's the schedule

  • Amy Schley as Patent, the level 23 troll rogue: Thursday, 10 p.m. EDT

  • Lisa Poisso as Prupher the proofreading druid (Lisiel just didn't fit a tauren): Thursday, 10 p.m. EDT

  • Fox Van Allen as Foxlight, the level 22 blood elf paladin: Friday, 8 p.m. EDT

  • Michael Sacco as Sahko, the orc warlock; Christian Belt, as Selfloathius, the level 16 blood elf warlock; Elizabeth Harper as Faience, the level 24 troll shaman; Matthew Rossi as Andrenorton, the level 17 troll mage; Michael Gray as Grayfields, the level 17 tauren hunter; and Gregg Reece as Sandwichdoc, the level 15 troll shaman, will be making appearances as they can.

Advice for Foxlight and stories are after the break.

Advice for Foxlight from Chase Christian, The Light and How to Swing It

Foxlight, you're growing up so fast! Level 20 was a big level for you, as you were able to pick up two of the very few DPS abilities available to holy paladins: Exorcism and Consecration. While finally being able to deal reasonable damage is great, you also picked up a far more important move: Flash of Light. FoL will be your signature heal as you level; it is the perfect mix of speed, potency and efficiency. Once you hit level 30, be sure to pick up your second major glyph, which will obviously be the Glyph of Flash of Light. Your Holy Light will still be around for doing any heavy lifting, but the mana cost compared against your small mana pool is simply too great.

Concentration Aura deserves a mention at level 22; switching to Conc Aura can help you heal when you're under fire, so use it any time you have a tank who can't figure out what aggro is. As you level from 22 to 30, you'll pick up a few new ranks of your existing abilities, without anything really amazing until level 30 itself. Divine Intervention is almost as core to paladins as Divine Shield. You have the right to choose when and where you die, saving yourself a repair bill and the embarassment of falling to the enemy's hand. Make sure to stock up on Symbols of Divinity, since many paladins overlook this when they first pick up the spell.

As far as talents are concerned, you'll want to start filling up a few of your uncompleted talents and picking up a few nifty cooldowns on your way to Holy Shock. Aura Mastery won't be as useful as it is at 80, but trying to find interesting uses for it will keep it fresh in your mind and get you in the habit of using it. Divine Favor is very valuable as a last-resort cooldown when you feel like you're falling behind with your heals and should also be used as often as possible to get you practicing good habits.

Stories

Gregg Reece as Sandwichdoc

I didn't realize you guys hated me so much, but I did it. Per your votes, I went out and downloaded a Justin Bieber album to put on repeat while leveling this character. At 15 minutes into it, I considered quitting for the week. At 45 minutes in, I was becoming physically ill. At an hour and 15 minutes in, I started seeing worgen chasing me around and eating my face ... which actually did happen and is unrelated to the Bieber thing. However, at an hour and 50 minutes into the excruciating experience that you hath unleashed upon my poor and delicate eardrums, I dinged for level 16. At that point, I figured we were even. I "leveled" while listening to that "music."

The rest of the day will be spent listening to something calming and soothing like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath or AC/DC. Next week, I'll be listening and merrily singing along.to the runner-up, Queen.

Lisa Poisso as Prupher

A cow. You had to choose the cow, didn't you? Fair enough -- but now it's up to everyone to help me get past the cow stage and through the bear stage into the cat stage. We can do that together, right? ... Right?

As for my name, "Lisiel" seemed entirely too light and airy for a tauren of my stature, so I went with "Prupher the proofreading druid." If you see a tall, dark tauren standing motionless in a field somewhere being eaten by a newbie critter, it's probably me, intently proofreadi -- err, tweaking my UI and addons. I'm OCD that way. You know how it is. It's an editorial thing.

Robin Torres as Robinemia

Hallo Mother,

I am at a crisis. I know that you can't help me, being dead and all, but I'm hoping that speaking to you will help put things in perspective. There is a portal called "Beta" to the future of our world. Do I travel through it, leaving my friends behind? Or do I focus on my efforts to become Robinemia the Insane?

...

Yeah. This wasn't as helpful as I was hoping. I'll come up with another way to make a decision. Thank you anyway.

With memories of love,

Robinemia
