The Queue: The one where we issue a retraction

Welcome to your daily dose of The Queue. With Mike, Alex and Adam busy, their precious Queue was once again left unguarded and captured by the adorable Fox Van Allen. All members of the Van Allen faction shall enjoy a 5% buff to damage and experience for the 24-hour duration of this Queue, and Spirit Shards may now be collected.

Don't get the wrong idea. I'm not back running today's The Queue just because yesterday was, like, the most awesome edition of all time. I'm back because there's serious work to be done.

You see, sometimes, in the rush to break a story, those of us here in the "media" jump to judgement. We make mistakes. As such ... The Queue would like to make the following retraction:

That drunk girl in a Boston bar did not think Mike Sacco's hair smelled like girls' hair. She thought it smelled better than girls' hair. We apologize for the error. (And not just because it means we get to reuse the Mike Sacco has girl hair tag.)

Dudegar asked:

How are flight paths handled in Cataclysm? Are they changed much? If so, if I have all the flight paths in the old world at the moment, are they going to reset in Cataclysm and I will need to grab them again? Or are they automatically adjusted?

Judging from what's currently in the beta, there's some good news for you and some bad news. The good news is that most of your accumulated flight points are still there. Alliance characters will still their flightpoint in Southshore even though Southshore is gone. For now, anyway -- there's not really a reason for Alliance to visit anymore, so it could get scrapped at any moment. But you should be keeping all your existing flight points to towns that Deathwing doesn't eat.

The most important note about flight points in Cataclysm isn't what happens to the old ones. It's the fact that Blizzard has added tons of new flight points to existing zones. For example, there are no fewer than three new ones in Tanaris, like the neutral Bootlegger Outpost and some faction-specific ones in the far south. Heck, even the Burning Steppes gets a new flight point run by the Thorium Brotherhood. You have to discover those flight points before you can use them, though.

Currently, in the beta, some of the existing flight paths are inoperational until you pick up some of the new ones. (I'm hoping they fix that.) You can tell where the new flight points are on the overview map of the zone, though, so you'll at least know where you need to visit.

arixian asked:

When I read in previous articles/comments that there would be a portals room in Stormwind I guess I assumed that it would have portals to all the major cities ala the one in Dalaran but you are saying that it only has portals for the new zones, any chance of this changing to the later?

Well, it's really more of a portal island. And all the real estate is taken. Portal to Tol Barad here, a brand new Starbucks there. And another Starbucks right across the street from that Starbucks.

In all seriousness, though, Blizzard frequently patches in conveniences for players. Look at all the mailboxes they added to Stormwind and Orgrimmar. And the portals to the Blasted Lands. I can't say they'll add portals any time soon, but they might someday.

James asked:

What's the best way to deal with a flatmate who torrents every night when you are trying to play WoW?

Oh, James. I used to have torrent-loving roommates. It stunk trying to raid Icecrown Citadel with 3,000 milliseconds of latency just because your roommate needs another 10 gigs of pornography.

You know what I did to solve the problem? I asked him not to do it while I play WoW. Seriously. I mean, you could follow the advice of everyone yesterday who suggested reporting him to federal agents, but I dunno, just talking with him sounds less messy.
