Dead Block pairs three unlikely survivors against the zombie masses this summer

Candygun Games and Digital Reality Publishing are teaming up to release a bizarre-looking ... um ... street defense game called Dead Block, coming this summer to XBLA, PSN and PC. Worried as you might be that the street itself is a zombie, you're thankfully mistaken -- turns out that the game is centered on the last remaining survivors of a 1950s zombie outbreak, holed up on one particular block of Americana.

Players control one of three different characters (swappable on the fly) in a third-person view, and apply direct or tactical violence in the form of traps to stop the stream of zombies. What's bizarre is the mix of characters, which ranges from a beefy construction worker with questionable mustache to a Blaxsploitation-era, gun-toting foxy lady to a chubby boyscout thrown in for good measure.

Despite the seeming anachronism of some of the game's characters, Dead Block's first trailer makes the game look rather promising. Head past the break and see for yourself.%Gallery-122917%

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Digital Reality announces 'DEAD BLOCK', a unique zombie defense game for XBLA, PSN and PC
platforms

Candygun Games delivers their first original IP, a unique and entertaining mix of arcade action and
strategy gameplay combined with a spooky, cartoony visual style inspired by classic zombie movies.

Budapest, Hungary - 5th May 2011 – United States in the 1950's - Rock'n'Roll music was spawned
directly from hell and caused havoc to western civilization. The music was so evil it even revived dead
people, turning them into Zombies!

Digital Reality announced today that it will publish Dead Block, the upcoming 3rd Person Action Defense
zombie survival game developed by the Hamburg based studio Candygun Games.

Dead Block focuses on innovative defensive gameplay in which the few remaining survivors, Jack Foster
(a construction worker), Foxy Jones (a traffic warden), and Mike Bacon (a perpetually hungry boy scout)
have formed an unlikely alliance to protect themselves from the invading undead. Hiding in various
shelters around town, they avoid Zombies by building blockades, setting fiendish traps or – as a last
resort – using their weapons to fight.

In addition to 10 Single-player levels the game offers up to 4-Player, Split-Screen Multiplayer with an
additional 8 Multiplayer co-op levels where players can fight side by side with their friends.

Dead Block was built on Epic Games' award-winning Unreal Engine 3, which offers cutting edge
technology and develops multi-platform products with great efficiency.

The game will be available in North America and Europe on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and
PC platforms later this year.
