Addon Spotlight: Twitter followers recommend addons, again

Each week, WoW Insider's Mathew McCurley brings you a fresh look at reader-submitted UIs as well as Addon Spotlight, which focuses on the backbone of the WoW gameplay experience: the user interface. Everything from bags to bars, buttons to DPS meters and beyond -- your addons folder will never be the same.

Once in a while, I head over to Twitter and ask my followers for information. Some answers are just found better through crowdsourcing. People send recommendations to my Twitter and email accounts unprompted, as you might expect, but when the floodgates open with a call for submissions, people like to put their dog in the race.

I recently hit up Twitter for another round of addons recommended by my Twitter followers. These addons run the gamut from old favorites that will never die to new dynamos that shook up the addon community. Be sure to follow me on Twitter so that you always know when I make a call for submissions and get your favorite recommendations into the column.

@orkchop recommends two

We all know prolific commenter @orkchop from, well, pretty much everywhere around here. When I asked for submissions for this recommendation column, @orkchop fired back quickly with two great picks. (I can usually count on him for at least one, but two picks is just being spoiled.)

@orkchop's first recommendation is Chef's Hat, a wonderful fire-and-forget type of addon that makes sure you've got your Chef's Hat on when you open up the cooking skill menu. Much how AutoTabard revolutionized my life when it came to tabards and reputation grinding, Chef's Hat revolutionized cooking in a big way. That damn hat was never on when I would start a big order, and I'd leave the computer only to return hatless and in the middle of my cooking queue. So much sadness.

While I haven't had any incidents as bad as my last cooking snafu, Chef's Hat has performed admirably when called upon to do its duty of putting a hat on my head so that I can magically cook food faster.

@orkchop recommends Chef's Hat. Get it at [Curse].

@orkchop's second recommendation is an addon that I already know, love, and have put on the Spotlight. That addon is Bad Boy Anti-spam, a great tool for filtering out unwanted language and ASCII art pictures and blocking gold seller whispers in-game. Not only does BadBoy Anti-Spam work well, it's lightweight so it won't bog you down.

Paired up with BadBoy_CCleaner, this addon can keep chat sparkling clean, free of unwanted words that are plugged in to a filter. If you've got a child who plays World of Warcraft, this might be a great addon so you can set what is appropriate language for your child to see in chat, above and beyond the included profanity filters. BadBoy is one of the best addons out there for adding a little bit of peace of mind to your gameplay experience.

@orkchop also recommends BadBoy Anti-Spam Automatic Reporter. Get it at [Curse] or [WoWInterface].
Also check out BadBoy_CCleaner at [Curse] and [WoWInterface].

@goblin_aspect recommends iSold

I cannot believe I've gone as long as I have without an addon like iSold as part of my core kit. Believe me, when I first got this recommendation, I was absolutely blown away at how such a simple little addon could change so much. Take not, other games in this very same genre -- addon creators fix a lot of quality of life problems that you don't have to.

iSold plays a cash register bell sound when one of your auctions gets picked up on the Auction House. World of Warcraft already gives you a text alert and your eventual profits at the mailbox, but if you miss that initial text, you might not know that money is on the way. With iSold, you'll always know when your wares are flying off the shelves, quickly heading back to continue destroying the markets atop your golden towers.

I wonder how many times the bell would go off for that 1 million gold guy ...

@goblin_aspect recommends iSold. Get it on [Curse].

@AltosGold recommends MogIt

@AltosgGold on Twitter offered up MogIt, the premiere transmogrification addon that shows you where items drop, sorts items by approximate colors, and helps you plan out transmogrification outfits by saving and viewing sets of armor that you create. You'll be on your way to beauty with MogIt, I guarantee.

MogIt! has already been a featured player here on Addon Spotlight before -- but seriously, is there a cooler addon than MogIt? Need to figure out what amazing set of yellow pants will go with your new golden shoulders? How about finding the drop location to a really sweet axe? Maybe a hard-to-find item has the same model somewhere easier to find? MogIt has got your back.

You're going to be happy with MogIt's robust interface, complete with saved item sets, a preview room, and loads of tools to help you zoom in and out, turn your character, and much more. The whole addon is modular, so you aren't loading armor or weapons that you don't need until you request them. It's a slick addon; if you're into transmog at all, you're going to appreciate everything about it.

It's literally all here, kids. Transmog has never been easier.

@AltosGold recommends MogIt, so you should check it out at [Curse].

Twitter is a great place to ask questions to me or our community. If you're not into the whole Twitter thing, you should comment below on some of your favorite addons and help out other commenters who might need a recommendation themselves. Thank you to all of you who sent in an addon submission on Twitter, and I really appreciate your feedback.

If you'd like to see your addon featured on Addon Spotlight or just want to recommend an addon that you'd like to see in the column, please email me at mat@wowinsider.com with Addon Spotlight somewhere in the title or email. (Filters are fussy, you know.) I'll tell you a secret -- usually if you email me, something happens.

See you guys next week.

Addons are what we do on Addon Spotlight. If you're new to mods, Addons 101 will walk you through the basics; see what other players are doing at Reader UI of the Week. If there's a mod you think Addon Spotlight should take a look at, email mat@wowinsider.com.
