WRUP: The WoW Insider TV show
Every week, just at the start of the weekend, we catch up with the WoW Insider staff and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" -- otherwise known as: WRUP. Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game, and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
Here's a question, ladies and gents: What's your favorite TV show? Are you a fan of the recently renewed Fringe? Perhaps you're more the American Horror Story type? Maybe you British blokes care for Coronation Street, Blue Peter, or The Chase? (Look at the American pretending he knows stuff about British culture -- isn't that cute?)
Surely none of you said your favorite show was TMZ, even though that's an actual show that really exists on TV in real life. Apparently, someone thought it would be a great idea to take a celebrity gossip site and turn it into an awful TV show. (P.S.: I am so sorry for sharing the above clip with you.) But that's not the only terrible idea floating out there on television -- after all, someone is turning that I Can Haz Cheezeburger nonsense into a TV show, too.
So, that got me thinking -- if any website out there can wind up being a poorly rated TV show, why not ours? Why can't there be a show that revolves around our wacky escapades? We literally could not be worse than TMZ. Never mind that it's a bad idea to put folks like Mike Sacco and Mat McCurley on TV. I'm ready to be famous. Not like I-write-for-the-internet famous, but B-list reality show famous. It's time.

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) This weekend is going to be devoted to building furniture and things! And a little raiding. And a lot of messing around on the beta. Bonus question: Right now, I'm mostly exploring -- I finished all the quests I can finish in Pandaria proper. Although I may take another 85 through, because there have already been so many changes to what's there that I noticed while I was exploring!
Chase Hasbrouck (@alarondruid) Been bitten by the monk bug, so more time playing and writing about that. Arkham City sits in my 360 and is absolutely fantastic, but can't find time to play it at the moment.
Dan Desmond (@antigen_) Oh, I'll probably be trying to push my Alliance paladin out of Outland in WoW in between gold farming Geth/Firebase White matches in Mass Effect 3. On the beta, I'm just jumping on periodically to test out new or changed abilities. I quested and ran some dungeons for a little while, but I want to save the rest for launch.
Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) I've been rotating Lego Harry Potter, Mass Effect 3 and Skyrim pretty consistently. I haven't really done much in the beta -- there are so many other games to play right now!
Fox Van Allen (@foxvanallen) More prep work for my impending move (and roadtrip) to LA. Want to road trip along with me? I'm asking people to Choose My Adventure and tell me what sites to visit and what to do. Have a terrible idea that you'd like to see me attempt, tweet about, or YouTube? Let me know. On the beta, I just wander around seeing if there are any new NPCs named after me in the game.
Joe Perez (@lodurjz) No gaming for me unless it's on the iPad this weekend, though I am doing something gaming-related -- just can't talk about it yet. ;) When I get home from traveling coast to coast, though, I'll be hitting the beta for some more resto math. I have a lot of numbers to verify and a lot of tickets to submit. A lot. Of tickets ...
Josh Myers (@PostColloquial) I will not be playing anything this weekend, as I will be driving from the middle of Michigan to New Jersey and getting ready to start a new job next week. I've got a busy weekend ahead of me! As for the bonus question, I'll be spending time leveling my mage to 87 the next time I get beta access.
Kelly Aarons (@Cadistra) Not much in the world of gaming, unfortunately, as I have a bit of a medical crisis to deal with. If I can handle it, then more Devil Survivor 2. I've really been drooling over Trials Evolution for the XBLA, too ...
Lisa Poisso (@LisaPoisso) Guild Wars 2 beta! And garage sale. And packing. Many boxes -- handle them!
Mathew McCurley (@gomatgo) I'm back in beta trying to figure out which character I want to tool around on. I made a video this week, and you should watch it. Also, I'll be playing a ton of League of Legends this weekend, as usual.
Matt "Matticus" Low (@matticus) More Mists of Pandaria beta action for me! I have a League of Legends tournament coming up in the weekend, so I'll need to get some practice in before that. I'm currently working on trying out the instances in the game and leveling some premade healing classes. This might be the first expansion where I'm seriously considering switching healing mains.
Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) I'll be continuing my Mass Effect 2 Insanity-difficulty playthrough, though I'm probably still a week away from finishing completely. I'll probably also do some Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, since there's a community event this weekend to sweeten the deal. Haven't done much on beta yet, aside from check out a few things. I'm waiting for things to settle before going hog wild.
Megan O'Neill (@slowpoker) Reading, maybe. Beta, maybe. I don't really know what I'm doing this weekend. Bonus: Playing with affliction and destruction at 87. I prefer drain-tanking to having demon form! Don't hate! I might try to level a few warlocks to see how the leveling is getting adjusted to all the overhaul.
Michael Gray (@writegray) I'll be rocking out the beta, for the most part. Aside from that, I'm converting the basement into a playroom for adults and kids, making it baby-safe and things like that. In the beta: I'm about to start the "OMG how 2 level" series with lots of documentation, so I'm starting all over.
Olivia Grace (@oliviadgrace) I'm having huge amounts of fun trying out new classes in the PvP sandbox that is the Arena Pass realm, although the number of presses required to place a hunter trap is rather irritating! I also restarted MediEvil Resurrection after the earlier WRUP about indie games, so a bit of that. Bonus? Hmmm, well, I'm very idly levelling a baby pandaren shaman, I've copied over a dwarf shaman, and I'm getting a premade mage and a pandaren shaman! So things involving shaman, mostly. However, the lack of PvP content is not exactly helping my dedication to the beta.
Robin Torres (@cosmicgeek) I'll be fiddling around in both Blizzard betas and playing lots of Scramble with Friends. Most importantly, the Running of the Orphans is this Sunday. Mark your calendars and join us! Bonus: I'm playing with a baby monk and a premade monk, seeing if I like the class enough to start again on yet another alt in live.
